This was a quick and fun card to make.  I used Mitten Weather paper from Cosmo Cricket, a penguin image from Think Snow (Anna Wight, Whipper Snapper), and a sentiment from Got Mistletoe (also an Anna Wight set).

I’ll be making a few more of these today using different colour combos as I am determined to get my out of province gifts ready for mailing out tomorrow.  Once I’ve got that done I just need a few stocking stuffers for Rich and I need to do some handmade stuff for my Aunt and I’ll be finished the gift portion of Christmas.

Speaking of stocking stuffers, a quick personal story to share today – Rich and I went out to do a bit of Christmas shopping yesterday around supper time and Jack (the dog) decided to break in to the spare bedroom where we are keeping all the unwrapped gifts.  He found his stocking and took everything out of it and ate a bag of beef jerky for dogs, a small bag of dog biscuits, a medium sized organic carrot-and-something dog bone, and a candy-cane shaped dog cookie that I bought from a specialty store.   The little rat-head!  He ate about $10 worth of treats.  (and drank about 2 bowls of water because all that stuff made him thirsty)

Let’s get back to the card…

The scarf was paper-pieced using the plaid paper in the background.   The rest of the image was coloured with Copics.  I actually tend to use W5 and W7 for my penguins…I think black is too dark and obliterates some of the details.  I did a little DTP with some chocolate chip ink to soften the raw edges of the patterned paper and I used my tracing wheel to add a litttle faux stitching…it’s a lot faster than machine sewing.

The background cardstock has been stamped using a snowflake stamp from Winter Schminter (another Anna Wight cling set) and distress ink…it takes away some of the starkness of the plain background.

Must go crank out a few more of these so I can stick to my mailing schedule.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Finally!  Some blog time.  I’ve got about 1o projects just waiting for their turn in the limelight.  This is good because I’m in mass production mode these days so there’s not a lot of original creations pumping out of my craft room…I’ll probably take a few pictures of the end result if I ever get my orders finished.

Today’s card is a Whipper Snapper…I just realized I should have asked Santa for some new Whipper Snapper stamps but I’ll probably place an order at the next release (I believe it’s in January).  I’m using a cute image that I got last year along with a sentiment from the “Winter Schminter” Anna Wight cling set.  It was the perfect sentiment for this card…

I pulled the colour combo from the Echo Park paper in the background.  The image is coloured with Copics – which only took a minute as the polar bear is white!

I made a quick embellishment using a glittered snowflake, some ribbon from Michael’s and I even had the perfect coloured rhinestone to add to the middle.  Kismet!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Christmas card.

Thanks for looking!
