Let me start by saying that the pictures will NOT do justice to this card.  Trying to take a picture of a glittery card is so difficult.

This is a totally different card for me.  I didn’t use any stamps to make this but I think it turned out okay.  It’s for a 50th birthday but would definitely work as an anniversay card too. (maybe using gold instead of green)

First the card, then the details:

There were a few steps to this so bear with me…

I glued some BG paper to a piece of chipboard and die cut the numbers using my cuttlebug.  I then put a thin coat of glue on the numbers and covered them in glamour dust.  It’s finer than regular glitter and is very sparkly.  I also think that every time I work with it I inhale more than I use on my project.  (okay, I’ve just admitted that I snort glamour dust)

While waiting for the glitter to dry, I die cut a rectangle of coordinating paper and a mat from cardstock.  I then embossed a piece of kraft cardstock and trimmed down the edges.  A few swipes of white craft ink to bring out the pattern and that was also put aside to dry for a bit.

I was having trouble with embellishments.  I didn’t really have any ribbon that coordinates with the colours in the patterned paper or the cardstock I used (it’s that Razzleberry SU stuff – very dark) so I dug around and found some prima roses in my stash.  They didn’t match either so I lightly coloured the tips of  a rose with a copic marker to make it match the papers I was using (I was impressed as I don’t have very many copics but managed to get a decent match!)  More roses would have been nice but these suckers are expensive so I kept it to one.

By this time, the white craft ink was dry so I ran the kraft panel through my sewing machine and adhered it to the card base (between embossing and inking, the panel warped quite a bit so I used LOTS of ATG tape.).  A few pearls on each corner of the patterned paper rectangle and I figured it was time to finish assembling the card.  I probably should have sewn on the patterned paper too but I’d already adhered the dimensionals to it so I left it alone.

I have to go design some birthday invitations…if they turn out okay I’ll show them off another time!
