Lots of people on SCS are talking about the new lines (yes, lineS) of clear stamps that Michael’s is carrying. One of the lines is called “Recollections” and seems to be a Michael’s brand – they’ve been carrying some Recollections brads for a while and now these stamps have made an appearance.
I managed to keep myself from buying more than one package of stamps the last time I was at M’s because not all clear stamps are created equal and I wasn’t sure they would stamp cleanly. After a lengthy debate I decided to buy the package of “My Little Monsters” stamps and inked some of them up over the weekend.
The stamps do take ink nicely. My dye ink SU spots did bead up slightly but not nearly as badly as they do on Studio G stamps. My go-to ink (Palette Hybrid Noir) worked perfectly with the stamps and also came off the stamp easily when I cleaned it (Other clear stamps such as Hero Arts and Stampendous tend to absorb some of the ink colour when you use them – especially red and black. The Recollections stamps did not retain any of the colour).
Here’s a shot of one of the cards I made:
Apologies for the patterned paper redux…I still had some scraps out from my 3X3 card project and decided to put them to good use. In the above picture you can see that the “Boo” sentiment did not stamp solidly – that was using my Pumpkin Pie stampin’ spot.
The monster’s “real” eye is probably cuter than the google eye I glued to the card but I couldn’t resist after adding the eyes to the “O”s in Boo…
More deets – American Crafts “Everyday” PP, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip cardstock, the balloons are not part of the Monster set. They’re from an SU set an I just drew the strings with a marker (but I’d probably use real string if I did this again – my hand-drawn strings bite!) The image was coloured with SU markers and an aquapainter. I don’t have many reinkers so I just scribble with a marker on a plastic lid and use the aquapainter to pick up the colour. If SU prices ever become affordable to Canadians again I might pick up some reinkers. (I’m currently boycotting due to the ridiculous price hikes two years running.)
So there you have it – a Boo and a review!
