Another Easter fast approaches! I can’t believe how quickly time flies. I think Easter is a weird gauge of time because it changes dates from year to year (and months too!) but it does seem to arrive faster the older I get.
I made my traditional Easter treat for my co-workers over the weekend. 18 individual treats for each person in my department (there are 16 in my department but I give our runner and our receptionist a treat too because they do work for our department every day).
This time around I bought a box of caramel filled chocolate bunnies (they’re not that big – I got a 300 gram box at Walmart and I think there were about 30 in the box) and had a little fun creating packaging for them…
The paper is from a DCWV glitter stack that I’ve had for a little while and the cardstock is also a textured DCWV mat stack. I think the colours are very Spring/Easter like.
I used my Cricut to create 18 chickens – it was a bit tedious to cut them out and add the beak, feet and eyes to each one but I did it in batches of 6 so I wouldn’t get too bored. I then cut out 18 circles and 18 mats and 18 pieces of 4X6″ paper to create the pockets.
I used my crimper to seal the ends of each pocket and finished the decorating by adding a few foam eggs to the front using glue dots. It took a few hours to make it all on Sunday afternoon but I did have fun playing with my Cricut and using up some of my unloved cardstock. (I keep the stack out on my work top and use it every chance I get in hopes of using it up…I have TOO MUCH STUFF!!!!).
I’m not a hoarder when it comes to my craft stuff…I just purchase new things faster than I can use up the old stuff and sometimes I forget what I have.
Anyway, these little critters turned out pretty cute – I have to make a slightly different batch for DH’s co-workers next weekend. Thank goodness he has about half the co-workers I have!
