This week I have to get back into my “normal” routine.  All except my weekly visits to my mother in the nursing home.

I was going to go back to work today but spent most of the night awake wondering how I was going to concentrate on work.  I got up, had a shower, and decided I couldn’t go in.  I let the office know I needed a couple of days (they’ve been great about my time off) and I’m going back on Wednesday.

Routines are good.  Work is a routine.  I know that once I get through the first morning back I’ll be fine (as long as nobody talks about my mom) and it will be good to be around so many people that I’ve known for a long time (I was quite touched at my mother’s memorial service to see quite a few co-workers in attendance).

Another routine for me is to try to do my LSS’s Mojo Monday challenges so that’s what I did tonight after I’d had supper and spent some time with my husband.

It was a sketch challenge (not my favourite – I don’t do well with sketches) and I struggled with it at first because there wasn’t really room for a focal image.  However, I used some artistic licence to reduce the number of banners in the sketch (there were 6 and I prefer an odd number) and I made my sentiment “bigger” by using some Thickers and extending the real estate of the sentiment with a few more words popped up on dimensional foam.  A sprinkle of pearls, rhinestones and sequins and a touch of sewing gave my card a little more texture.

I used a double-sided sheet of patterned paper for the background (cut a small strip off the side and flipped it over for contrast) and some leftovers scraps of patterned paper from my scrap pile.

Must get ready for bed as I really do need to get back on a proper sleep schedule.
