Well, the house projects are going slowly (very little has been done!) and there wasn’t any crafting time until yesterday when I managed to make a birthday card.

I really wanted to use my Paper Smooches stamps and I had a very simple layout in my head so this one whipped up pretty quickly:

I don’t normallly stitch around round images because I’m not very good with a sewing machine but the layout was so simple I felt the extra stitching was necessary to give this card the pop it needed.

I paper pieced the owl (did the beak and the eyes seperately and cut around the feet which are simply coloured in with a Copic marker).  Time didn’t allow for individually piecing the ruffles on the owl but I’ll definitely give that a go the next time I use this stamp.

The paper is Basic Grey (Pyrus, I believe – lovely colours in this paper pad).  I thought the “leaves” were an appropriate background for the owl.  I also used a PTI button and some brown twine to cover where the stitching meets on the circle.

Back to the salt mines…I need to get at least ONE project completed this week before my head explodes!  😉
