Today’s card uses some MME “I Believe” paper that would work for an elegant or whimsical card depending on your mood…of course, I went whimsical.

If you’re looking for a card to give your Mom or Dad or your significant other, this is a card that you could whip up in no time.  Change out the colours and the embellishment and you’ve got yourself a Valentine’s Day or Anniversary card.

To make this card, I inked up 3 of the hearts from “For the Love of Snowmen” (Whipper Snapper cling mount set) taking colours from my patterned paper.  I didn’t have *quite* the right shade of green so I paper pieced that heart to make it match perfectly.

I used a sakura glaze pen to colour the hearts on the sentiment and made my embellishment by layering a felt stocking with a heart-shaped button.  The button is a pale pink but I covered it with Martha Stewart coarse glitter which really detracts from the pink.  The glaze pen and the glitter help play up the shiny stripes in the patterned paper.

The final touch was a ruffled ribbon effect to hide the join between the two papers.

TIP:  In making this card I used double-sided paper.  I cut the paper to size (4″X5.25″) and then cut that piece down the centre.  Much more efficient and accurate than cutting two separate pieces of paper.  Of course, I turned one piece over to expose the second pattern before adhering to my card.
