Arrrrgh!  I have tried to photograph today’s project but it’s coming out too dark for any of the detail to show up.  I altered a wooden box (heart-shaped) to package a birthday gift for my cousin (her birthday is today).  I also made a box-in-a-bag to wrap the gift and I was going to make a matching card but the box and the bag are kind of elegant and I was in the mood to make a fun card instead of a boring one!

Here’s the box and the bag but the colours are a little washed out in an effort to show you all the teeny, tiny rhinestones I individually placed on the top of the box (oh, and the ribbon on the bag is not tied yet because I still have to put the box in there):

Here’s a different shot of the bag and box but I can’t tell you what’s inside as my cousin sometimes visits my blog…

I’m going to post the card separately so here’s the babble on the box:

I painted a hinged, wooden box from M’s with black paint and then covered it with some felted paper.  I inked the edges of the paper with black ink so it would blend nicely once stuck to the box.  I simply used Mono Multi glue to adhere the paper.  The rhinestones are from a package I picked up at Dollarama – they’re intended for decorating a cell phone and I’ve gotten some mileage from them.  I only bought them because there were black rhinestones in the package and I haven’t seen any in my travels.  A Prima with a rhinestone centre was added to the lid for a little extra decoration.

In real life this is quite sparkly and the paper is very textured as the black stripes are felted.  I used my monogram stamper from JustRite to decorate the bag as I like to personalize my gifts.  I don’t have any cream ribbon so the black and white striped is going to have to do.  (I don’t have any plain black ribbon either though that surprises me a little)

I’ll post the card tomorrow just in case Shana checks my blog today.
