Hi there…it’s been a couple of weeks since I posted but I took my annual break from card-making right after Christmas.  I usually do this as I want to spend as much time with my family as possible during the holidays and it also gives me a little breather before switching gears to Valentine’s Day cards and crafts.

I do have a card to share today – it took me about an hour to make it which is pretty good for me – most of that time was spent colouring the image and then I had to fool around with some patterned papers before finding the right combination.

Since the image was a larger size, I went with a mostly white card.  The image is “Bear Flowers” by Penny Johnson (Stampavie).  I bought this stamp at onecrazystamper.com last summer and only got to use it once so I thought I’d take it out and show it some inky love.

The patterned paper is American Crafts XOXO and I used a little stip of lawn fawn washi tape as well.  I know washi tape is predictably trendy but it’s really fun to incorporate into craft projects.

Another trend that I am really enjoying is the scattering of “bling” on cards – just a random rhinestone or pearl here and there.  I did toss a few of those onto my card – here’s a close up:

I’m still trying out using smaller pieces of patterned paper on my cards – I haven’t quite got the hang of getting some depth to them yet but I’ll keep at it!

Hopefully, I should have a little time to create in the next few days.

P.S.  DH updated my blog banner for me…it was time for a little tweak!
