Well, colour me impressed (with myself!).  I’ve made TWO masculine cards this week.  Not for any particular reason but it’s good to have a couple on hand.  Now if I could only convince myself that I like making baby cards because I have none in my stash at all.  I’ve yet to find the perfect baby stamp – I have some baby themed stamps but they just don’t do it for me.

This card was pretty simple to put together.  The only remotely creative part was cutting two rows of scallops with my corner rounder to add to the ribbon border.  My friend Karen and I were discussing card layouts and we agreed that we both tend to fall back on the “one pattern on top, one pattern on bottom” layout.  It is the easiest to use and still get a great looking card so I’m going to concentrate on mixing it up a little by choosing different methods of hiding the join in the paper and varying the height of each paper.

In addition to trying to make this layout a little more interesting I’ve secretly vowed to use up some of my brads.  I gave away a huge pile of shaped brads just before Christmas – they were all Making Memories brads.  The only brads I ever use are the round ones so anything in the shape of a square or flower has been banished from my craft room.  I was pleased to incorporate 3 tiny brads on this card.  I just need to remember to reach for them the next time I make a card.
