Whew!  I’ve just returned from a trip to Halifax/Dartmouth.  What an experience!  I was attending two conferences (Atlantic and National) PLUS I survived a presentation that I was part of PLUS I visited our Dartmouth office for a couple of days to say hi to my peeps.  The conferences were packed with workshops, presentations and social events.  I did manage to sneek in a few shopping sprees (mostly by skipping some social events) while I was there and I did have fun but I’m sooooo tired right now.

I had an anniversary card order on the back burner that I really needed to get done ASAP so I put this guy together last night – normally this one would be a two-nighter for me – stress can be a great motivator.

I hope you can see my cool stick pin.  It’s the first time I’ve used one on a card.  I bought them in my last eP order (some time ago) but was trying to source the clutch that goes on the bottom of the pin so you don’t stab yourself.  I know a lot of cardmakers don’t bother with the clutch but I just couldn’t imagine giving someone a card with a lethal weapon as a decorative touch!  I bought some earring backs at M’s and am using them instead of a clutch.  I put a drop of glossy accents (that stuff I used to make the bubbles shiny on a few recent cards) on the bottom of the pin before attaching the earring back and it will act as a glue so the back doesn’t fall off the pin.

You may have noticed I’m a bit of a one-trick pony with this bird stamp.  I really liked the touch of glitter the last time I used it (a while ago, admittedly) so I did it again.  It’s just fun!

This is a larger 6.5 X 5″ card so I used a large heart-shaped die to make the small stamp take up a lot more space.  I am really drawn to larger stamps these days but don’t want to neglect all my smaller ones (plus they were a huge investment – I would be afraid to add up the value of my craft stuff!) so it’s nice to find a way to utilize the things that are not my current “style”.

The background paper is from Basic Grey – I thought the pattern was very elegant but still cute enough to pair with the bird image.

The image was stamped with Palette Hybrid Noir (my go-to ink) and watercoloured with a combination of reinkers and markers. (I really need to order some ink)

Must toddle…I need extra sleep time to get me through tomorrow and then I can recharge over the weekend.

Keep checking back…I have some new stamps that I’ll be sharing on Monday (plus I might throw something else on the blog before that) and I’m getting ready for blog candy too!
