I made a couple of “Grandma” themed Mother’s Day cards over the weekend.  I actually made 3 but rejected one (wish I’d rejected it before adhering a couple of my precious enamel dots!  Part of me wants to salvage them from the card but I know they’d just sit in a little dish on my desk with all my other abandoned embellishments.)

They’re from a little boy so I kept the colours more muted even though the recipients are female.

The first card uses a Paper Smooches stamp from one of the first sets I ever bought:

bear hug grandma

I also used some Studio Calico patterned paper (bought it at Winners) and some Studio Calico wooden stars that I coloured with Copics to coordinate with the other colours on the card.

I don’t own the die that matches the stamp (actually, not sure if this set has dies yet) so I fussy cut my image and also coloured and fussy cut the baseball cap on his head – which I wish I’d coloured red but I already had it adhered when I decided to add red to the card layout.

I added some hemp twine to the button and computer-generated the sentiment as I don’t have any stamps that say “grandma”

Back tomorrow with card number two.
