I finally “officially” started making my Christmas crafts for 2014.  I had to put away all the Halloween stuff and rearrange my crafting area a little to accommodate my stash of papers and embellishments. (LOVE making Christmas cards and tags!!!)

To get me in the mood last night (as it was Halloween so it required a bit of a mental shift) I made a few tags as they are fairly quick to produce.

Here was the end result:

cool snowman tags

I used a new MFT stamp set (illustrated by Torico – love her stuff!) but didn’t have the matching die so I cut the images out on my Silhouette (which I have NOT mastered) using my new Pixscan mat.

I don’t do well with the die-cutting machines (as my little-used Cricut can attest to) but I bought the Silhouette in hopes of reducing the amount of space that cutting dies are taking up.  I can’t get into the intense organizing systems that people use to easily find the right die so mine are all in envelopes in a photo box…bit of a logistical nightmare sometimes.  I am still struggling with the Silhouette but will try to get better at it.  I don’t do well with “fiddly”.  Too impatient for that. (Besides, paper-crafting is supposed to be fun and my blood pressure immediately shoots up at the thought of using the die cutter.)

Back to the tags…

I cut out the tags using a PTI die and some PTI red cardstock.  My snowmen were pretty quick to colour (except I used 3 colours of grey in the hat) and I cut some strips of holly patterned paper from a fresh, new paper pad (Loooovvvveeee patterned paper!) and used my corner punch to create the scallop.

I used Hero Arts white ink for the sentiment.  Kind of wish I’d embossed it now but I was going for quick not fussy.

Back tomorrow with a “fussy” set of tags.
